Biography

B.S.E. Special Education, University of Central Arkansas, Conway, AR M.S.E. Teaching Severe/Profound, University of Arkansas, Little Rock, AR Special Education Supervisor Certification, University of Central Arkansas, Conway, AR Classroom teaching experience includes resource room at the elementary, junior high and senior high for mild/moderate mental retardation and learning disabled students; elementary self-contained for moderate to severe mental retardation; self-contained classroom for severe to profound mental retardation and multi-disabilities for students kindergarten to age 21; supervising teacher in a DDS Licensed preschool. I have a total of 17 years classroom experience across various ages, disabilities and settings.

Administrative experience includes: DDS Early Childhood Administrator, Early Childhood Coordinator for Arkansas River Education Service Cooperative. I have 19 years administrative experience including the administration of special education services in the public sector and 22 years experience in working with DDS Licensed Preschools. Other experience includes DDS Field Counselor. I have worked closely with the ADE, Special Education Unit as a part of the Child Find Advisory Committee, assisted in the development of the initial training modules for Para-Professional, served on the Deaf-Blind Task force, as well as various other committee assignments in Early Childhood Special Education.

In 41 years of special education, I have gained knowledge in state and federal policies and procedures regarding the implementation of special education services, primarily early childhood special education. My specific employment opportunities have provided experience in monitoring compliance with special education, directing corrective action, providing training and technical assistance in the provision of early childhood special education, as well as the development of policy/procedures for the implementation of special education services.
